Steel and Quantum-Research Dome atop Yale Kline Tower, New Haven, CT
One of our most memorable lifts: hoisting structural steel and a prefabricated dome to the top of Yale's Kline Tower in New Haven, CT, the tallest building on campus. We ran our 400-ton Terex with a 178' main boom and a 168' jib on offset to reach the roof.
The dome and the new laser it houses are part of Yale's Q-LATS project (Quantum Laser Across the Sound), an experiment that beams entangled photons roughly 44 kilometers across the Long Island Sound to Stony Brook University to test free-space quantum communication. We completed the work with Proiron and Standard Builders.
Complex, high-reach lifts like this are what our fleet is built for, serving New Haven County and the surrounding area.
